The Old Monkey - which was the local nickname for the building which was formerly the pub "The Kings Arms"

Steven & Kathryn have just completed the renovation of this part of the building and I am taking it on as part of 'The Grove Cottages' I think it will really appeal to a lot of my guests. Especially those who always ask how far the nearest pub, restaurant, walk, cycle route is - because this place really ticks all those boxes.
I took these photos as the place was nearing completion on the 1st August 2007, there are still a few bits and pieces to go in but it has a lovely cosy feel to it already.
The Old Monkey is a small but a very cosy and romantic place to stay. It has every modern convenience but still retains masses of original charm and character and I am sure it will really suit those who need a quick taste of relaxing country life but intend to fit in a gastro pub, a bike ride and want to be close to civilisation rather that out in the wilds.
It is situated right on the edge of the small ancient Suffolk Market Town of Hadleigh, there are lovely walks straight into the countryside from the cottage and The South Suffolk Cycle route runs behind the house.
The Guest accommodation occupies the part of the old house that you can see in the image below, where there is a nice courtyard to park in, in the next few months there will also be a private garden for guests to enjoy.

This is the main part of Hadleigh High Street - actually the same road that The Old Monkey is on.
Hadleigh has all the shops you could need and the CO-OP supermarket is the only 'Clone' one.

The contemporary Kitchen makes the preparation of meals very easy and is complete with dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and electric hobs and oven.

There are still a few things to go into the bedroom like an additional heavy curtain to the window blind and some mirrors and bedside antique furniture and lights, but already it looks very inviting..
