home page about this site

This is a page where I keep all my photos of Kentwell Hall.

Kentwell Hall, which is in Long Melford South Suffolk - about 10 minutes from The Grove Farm, is a beautiful Tudor mansion. It was digitally recreated for filming the blockbuster The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.

The special attraction of the Hall is that it is virtually untouched by time and they have the most wonderful Tudor Re-Creations there with up to 250 'Re-Enactors' living the Tudor life as they go about their work in the Hall or on the estate farm.

There are Blacksmiths, smelters, apocatharies, potters, archers, milkers, cheesemakers, lace makers, bakers, beer makers, guards, swordsmen, musicians, servants, cooks, maids, ad infinitum and the whole place hums with life as the Great Feast is prepared and the days small and big events of the time unfold.

It is perhaps the most famous of all the Tudor Re-Creations and brings the architecture and the period to life in a fabulous way.

There are also WWII Re-Creations, a Calendar of opera and Musical events, the favourite for me is The Glenn Miller evening listening to the tribute band lying on the lawns by the lake with a bottle of wine and a lantern as the dusk settles. There are usually lots of guests in period cloths and uniforms - it is like being inside the history  of the time!

Have a look at their website www.kentwell.co.uk which has details of all their events.
