Each of the cottages has a map with all the local walks.

Here are some of my favorite dog walks.

One of the walks straight from The Old Gove farm - 40 mins round trip; but there is a pub half way so...

This is the local Pub walk straight from the Old Grove Farm, it takes you down to the river and past Edwardstone Church - where I got married - to our local pub The White Horse, which specialises in real ales and is well known for being a CAMRA Pub - which means a lot to those who know what it means!

This area is great for walking even if you didn't bring a dog with you. I have marked many lovely walks that usually end at a pretty local pub.

The Polstead Walk - 50 mins round trip

I think the prettiest local walk is at Polstead which is a 9 minute drive from The Grove Cottages

The walk starts at the lovely Polstead Church at the top of the steep little valley overlooking the river Box.

I have marked the walk on the maps I supply to our guests and this one is only about 50 minutes but you can extend or shorten it, as it goes in a meandering figure of eight.

This is the Polstead hidden valley just up the top of the small hill is Polstead village green and the excellent Cock Pub, where you can get very good inventive lunch time snack and meals like Cajun chicken with yoghurt mint sauce in a big soft bread roll.

Dogs and walkers are welcome in this lovely old pub, which has resisted tarting itself up and is still a great local.

Minismere - Dunwich Heath &  Beach - as long as a peice of string; longer if you get lost.

If you want to take a nice day out with your doggie then this is one of my favorites: Dunwich heath, the Heath stretches right down to the sea and has a beautiful wild feel about it.

You can walk straight from the National Trust coastal 'Lookout Point' all the way along the beach by the famous Minnismere Bird Sanctuary to Eastbridge (excellent pub !) and back behind the lovely lakes to the Lookout point - this is probably the ultimate dream walk for any fit dog.

We always pop into Dunwhich where there is an excellent pub with food and the best fish n chips to be got right right on the beach!

Eat outside and give in to your dogs begging for bits!

Dunwich is just a 50 minute drive from The Grove Cottages and there is the wonderful Laxfield pub 'The Low House' (The Kings Head to you) on the cross country route back home.

The Low House is legendary and has to be about the best most original pub in England, see my Pub pages for more information !

Life's a beach.

The Nacton Walk  50 mins or longer.

Just 20 mins down the road from The Grove Cottages is the Orwell Bridge.

Take the second turning off after the bridge to Nacton Village and just behind Orwell College in Nacton is the coastal path.

This is a lovely place to walk your dog and there is an outstandingly good fish gastro pub called The Ship (lovely original interiors) which is just in the next village of Levington - overlooking the estuary.

Here are some photos taken in January !! ...

Micky & Tinkers friend Joey enjoyed it so much he went a.w.o.l here  - for 5 hours!

Funnily enough that is how I found the pub - 'every cloud has a silver lining'.

It was all going so well...

Joey's mum wasn't smiling so much 10 mins later !

Because as we came into the big meadow Joey decided to revisit his 'rescue dog' habits and Took Off

We all looked everywhere and finally came across him 5 hours later - he had had a great time and wants to go back !

Actually apart from the backwards step in dog training  - So do we.
